People turning their front lawns into pavement is tacky and will certainly effect the look of Alameda and ruin property values.

Almost four years ago, I reported that the front yard of the historic home at 1712 Webster Street was paved over for parking. Code Enforcement has the report listed as "received." Similar story on Taylor Avenue where the report was listed as "in violation." Code Enforcement says that they deal with life and death issues first and says that enforcement priorities are set by the City Council. Apparently there is never enough staff or time to deal with front lawns being turned into parking. Yes, the public expects that when codes are violated that they will be enforced, but with a backlog of about 1000 complaints on file, that does not seem to be the case. If this is a mis-statement, then the responsible manager can state so here.

Thank god it's a business
The city can refuse to renew his business license. And then he is shut down.
