Well, I'm stumped on this one. I searched through local ordinances and state laws, but I was not able to find anything about having to remove snow from cars. If it's true, I would love to know where to find this law.

It’s called the ice missile law as of 2014

Check out Connecticut General Statutes Section 14-252a - Removal of ice and snow from motor vehicle required.

Thanks folks. Now, I understand. This law applies to vehicles that are being driven and not cars that remain parked.

Yes, when cars are moving and covered with snow/ice they are a hazard to others

Yep Resident is right...It was set up and put into law following several cars and trucks on the highways having snow blow into traffic behind them causing accidents...

Really wish the law was enforced

Maybe if one gets a plate number and call public safety 203 946-6316 as soon as you see it, enforcement will improve

Difficult to do while I’m trying to drive safely, especially since they are often breaking speed limit laws and running stops

We are closing all the remaining open and acknowledged "snow issues" to get ready for the 2021-2022 season. We appreciate your feedback and adjusted where we could. Over the past year, we have added Public Space Inspectors who can help alleviate some of the snow issues by issuing warnings and tickets. As always, we encourage residents' cooperation and patience. Hopefully this winter season will be an improvement for us all! Thanks.
