Area beside manhole continues to sink no matter how many asphalt patches are done on it. There must be an issue with the surface beneath it or a pipe broken and need to be addressed properly, the side on the manhole is now exposed and becoming dangerous to traffic.

OAK 311 has received this issue. Your service request ID is #886422. Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we work through a backlog of pothole service requests. Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

Why fix it when the PWD make work road crew can keep dumping cold patch into this sink hole. They might as well just try packing it with our tax dollars. A waste time and money either way. They could fire half of the PWD and taxpayer would not see any difference in services. They would still be bad.

This issue has still not been addressed. There is something wrong with the area beside the manhole, constantly needs repair. The area needs to be cut out and repaired as whatever work was done in that area before was not done properly and it is a hazard when the side of the manhole is exposed. It will cause and accident.
