Please Help. There Has Not Been A Plow Down Clay Street Between Blatchely And James All Day. There Are Cars Parked On Both Sides So A Plow Cannot Come Down. People Have Been Realy Good Around Here, Pushing People Down The Street. What We Need Is A Plow. If A Plow Doesnt Come Before 7:15, I Will Not Be Able To Get To The Main Road To Bring My Children To School [Which Has no Busses]
hey, ginger lee last snow storm the plow didn't come for three days. did you want to offer to pick my children up and take them to school? It wasn't a big deal last time because school was cancelled and then came the weekend but I don't hear Destefano saying that because the roads are not plowed we're cancelling school like guilford was smart enough to do!!!!!!
Thanks Ginger, For The Offer. Its People Like You That Re-affirm There Is Good Somewhere In This World. Thanks For Telling Me. Im Going To Start Calling The Alderman Now. I Thought This Site Was Supposed To Help Fix Things. Maybe By Monday We'll Get A Plow.
I just reviewed your posting. I will contact the Department of Public Works directly and attempt to receive a time-line on when Clay Street (between Blatchley and James St) will be completed. I know it can become rather frustrating waiting however the city has received record snow fall for the month of January, roughly 45 inches. Not to mention the individuals who choose not to obey the parking ban which prevents tow trucks and plows to complete a street. The City of Hartford had to declare a "snow emergency" and ask the state for help because of the severity of the last two storms.
Nevertheless, I will again call the DPW and try to assist. You can always call me directly at 691-7009 or public works to report an issue as well. This site is only ONE avenue to report an issue out of many.

To the Alderman responding, can I ask why parking restrictions aren't being enforced? What is the point of having a restriction when there are no consequences to not obeying.
I have lived in four medium to large cities outside of CT. And cars are towed if the restrictions are not obeyed. This is the first time I have seen complete disregard for restrictions and no enforcement. Grand St is a mess of cars parked and down to one lane and no one is enforcing restrictions in the least. It is very frustrating to pay to park in a garage when others do not and are not towed or ticketed.
The first request which was sent to homeowners to my understanding was a voluntarily request for vehicles to be parked on the even-side of the street. When that failed the city then issued a 24 hour notice which stated it was no longer a "voluntarily request" but mandatory. The 24 hour notice expired which means vehicles will indeed begin to be towed for parking on the odd-side of the street this afternoon.
I was also told that residents can call the non-emergency number at the police department to report vehicles parked on the odd side. The police will then forward to DPW so they may be towed.
Lets see if this is indeed the case this afternoon/evening.

The Street Is STILL Not Plowed. I Have Called The Aldermans AID, The Mayors Office, The Police Station, And Had Them All Call For Me. Still No Result. This Is Rediculous.

Gingerhead, are you that naive you think everything is charity?? I should hope they are making money on the website.
You sound like a hater.
Me? I've seen seeclickfix.com work well on a couple of issues.
Joe, unlike NYC these are private tow companies here. They probably have no place to put all the illegally parked cars once towed.
