It’s absolutely insane that the City of Albany allows for this to continue. There is no reason to light off fireworks every night between 9 pm - 3 am. Each year this goes on and each year it gets worse because nothing is done.

Yes we definitely need to address this situation some how I am going to find out how to file a formal complaint to the mayors office then to the Governors office. The police seem non responsive and nonchalant about it. Oh and yes its the same over here on lower Clinton it is illegal to have these loud fireworks with out a permit. We need to go back to all illegal fireworks and stop selling them in NEW YORK STATE.

It is very, very bad for:
Veterans and others with PTSD
Elderly and infirm
Frightened children
Those who live in areas with heavy gun violence
Animals — both wild and domestic
Police do nothing, mayor’s office apologizes. Fireworks - especially the very popular ones that are extremely loud - should not be all Over the city in everyone’s yard and street. This goes way beyond a disruption of the peace and must be addressed by the City if Albany:
Common Council
Mayor
Other representatives
Governor
As concerned citizens of Albany, we must unite and insist this matter is appropriately addressed. The problem has gotten progressively worse each year.

Its not just that some of these fireworks being let off throughout Albany are illegal, which clearly many are. But the simple fact is that disturbing others needlessly is illegal. Period. Too many complaints to dispute that they are disturbing people. And they are routinely done at night, sometimes till 2 or 3 am.

The city and police seem to think its a big joke that this is being done. As long as its not them or their families. But the joke is on them. It just shows how little they care for the people of the city and also shows how incompetent these people who live off our tax dollars are. Incapable of enforcing these and other quality of life issues. Someday they may have to give account to a higher power.

APD, I'm not sure why you closed this when the issue persists and persists to the point where residents are seriously considering moving. WHAT GIVES?? Why can't you stop the perpetrators?

PS- APD, your response is to request that residents call when the issue is happening. People do that. You don't respond. Then you close the issue without actually doing anything. And you wonder why we don't trust you?

The whole fireworks/cars driving all over the park/drum circle which has relocated DIRECTLY ACROSS FROM MY HOME....the park is a free for all and i would love to be able to move but i can't afford it. The drum circle used to be cool, when they were located further into the park but now they are too close to the buildings and it just echoes off my building until i want to scream. I believe this goes against the Geneva convention.

Dear Albany, Can we citizens get help from the police in these matters? Or, how about having a Park Ranger with authority who can enforce the noise ordinance throughout the park. It really is a shame that citizens, neighbors cannot find peace in the park.

Please continue to call the police at 518-438-4000 if you hear them. It does help us locate them. We do advise and write citations.

All the police have to do is follow their ears. People are not even trying to hide it. If you can’t help law abiding citizens who largely support police you will have nobody on your side.
