Public Works has received your request for tree maintenance. Your electronic submission goes a long way to helping you and Public Works track the request, and is critical in maintaining Alameda’s 21,000+ street trees. These trees remove 9,121 tons of pollutants and carbon dioxide from our air, help cool our Island during the summer, decrease our stormwater runoff by 220 million gallons per year, and increase the value of Alameda’s property by nearly $63 million. Public Works receives and responds to many hundreds of these requests per year, all the while performing scheduled trimmings on an average of 3,000 trees, planting 200 more (1,000+ planted since 2011), treating 200 or more for diseases, and removing street trees that are dead, diseased or unsafe. All of this work is one of the reasons the City has been recognized as TreeCity USA since 2011.
Public Works Project Manager Jesse Barajas will respond to your request within 30 days. If your request is urgent, please call 747-7900, ask for Jesse, and explain why your request is urgent. If it is an urgent after-hours request (e.g., a tree has fallen), please call APD’s dispatch at (510) 337-8340.
Thank you in advance for your help (and patience) in maintaining Alameda’s urban forest. If you don’t hear from us in 30 days, please call 747-7900 and have your service request number available.
