  • 353 Cambridge Street Boston, MA, 02135, USA - Allston-Brighton

Since there's no curb cut at the foot of the footbridge, it is impossible to ride a bike on Cambridge St EB from the corner of Harvard Ave. Therefore the only option is to ride on the northern sidewalk of Cambridge St, which is completely unlit save for the glare of oncoming headlights; uneven in height (bumps and juts); and uneven in width (cutouts for trees that aren't even there). It is impossible to properly see the sidewalk at night with all these factors at play.

Unbelievable that at the bottom of a footbridge there is such a poor quality sidewalk with no curb cut and no bike lanes on the adjacent street, in either direction of Cambridge St.

3 cars parked in bike lane this morning during commuting hours due to missing flexposts all along both sides of Mass ave. Why have these not been replaced?
  • 183 Massachusetts Ave Boston, MA, 02115, USA - Fenway-Kenmore

K&M Transportation, RI plate # 90474 parked in bike lane on 4/1/19 at approximately 9 AM. There was a taxi also parked in the bike lane at this time.

I ride through here every day, and about 50% of the time, there is someone parked here. Please replace all the flexposts to make sure there is a BARRIER preventing cars from using this lane as extra parking. The other side of Mass Ave is exactly the same issue - flexposts are gone, so it becomes a free parking or uber dropoff lane.

  • 639 Huntington Ave Boston, MA, 02115, USA - Fenway-Kenmore

When I'm riding a bike to and from work and appointments, I feel unsafe on Huntington Ave on the stretch between Mass Ave and S Huntington.

This area has sharrows and is often a recommended bike route on Google Maps. However, there is no bike lane (but there are two lanes for cars and even parking along some portions), and I find that both "taking the lane" in the right hand lane and biking further to the side feel unsafe. If I bike to the side of the road, vehicles in the right hand lane will often pass me by at high speeds, very close to me, and I'm concerned about either not being seen, or a driver making a poor judgement that could result in me being hit. In the portion of the road with parking, I also worry about being doored. If I take the lane, I'm subject to harassment by drivers. (For example, the last time I took the lane, which was during the current lower-traffic conditions due to COVID19, a driver in a black vehicle wearing a US flag mask honked loudly, zoomed up close to me, rolled down the window, and yelled "Get the F*** off the street!")

If this road is really intended to be used (safely!) by people on bicycles, as the sharrows seem to suggest, something needs to be done to make it safer, ideally by adding a bike lane, at least for the portion of the road where the T has its own tracks separate from other traffic. I've had fewer problems in the area of the road where the green line shares the road, possibly because motorists are already required to be more aware and accommodating in that area and don't attempt to traverse it at such high velocities.

This lamp post (which has no lamp attached) is located smack in the middle of the bicycle path. I ride by there almost daily. The other night, with strong headlights from oncoming car traffic, I almost ran into it even though I know it well. It’s time that it gets removed, it’s been there for years. At the very least could you have a crew do something so it’s visible at night? Thanks.

Comm Ave at University Road and then onto the BU Bridge is a tragedy waiting to happen. There's a right turn only lane to go onto University road that people ignore. After that is an unprotected bike lane that cars go into to turn onto the BU bridge. 3 lands attempt to turn into 2 but it is quite a mess. It's only a matter of time that a major crash occurs. At the very least the bike lane should be curb protected the full length between University Road and the BU Bridge. There should be other considerations as well. The bike lane coming from Carlton goes into this. Cars and bikes coming from Carlton are also at risk of collision.

Near collision here. Car westbound on commonwealth ran a red light and nearly collided with bikers and cars traveling southbound off the BU bridge. At the time it appeared that right turns onto the BU bridge were permitted but not going straight through. This occurred at around 6:30

Many many many potholes on the underpass on route 99 southbound under the schraft's rotary. The past 3 days I've seen a car coming out of the tunnel With flat tires. And most likely damaged rims. This road has been like this for the past 10 plus years! Please this area of roadway needs to be fixed permanently!
  • Traffic Signal Acknowledged
91-97 Massachusetts Ave Boston, MA, 02115, USA - Back Bay
Please change the signalling at the intersection of Mass Ave and Newbury/Pike entrance. Vehicles turning right from Mass Ave onto the Pike do not look for bike and pedestrian traffic who have the green light and walk signal. Despite the flexposts, vehicles fail to yield every single day. Today I had a close call with a truck that was not signaling their turn, and not yielding. The cyclist in front of me had a close call with an SUV. Please change this to have a right arrow prohibiting right turns while traffic on Mass Ave has the green light. Then, have a separate right-turn-only phase (see Porter square where this has been resolved recently with separate phases). Please do this now before someone gets killed. If you look at the vision zero map for this intersection, it's full of complaints for vehicles not yielding.
  • 520 Beacon St Boston, MA, 02215, USA - Back Bay
Illegal Parking/ Bike Lane obstruction. there is a Uhaul dropbox completely blocking the bike lane. People on bicycles forced to dangerously ride into the street to go around.
Perhaps the design of this bike lane is confusing to delivery people who aren't familiar. The city could perhaps paint the lane or put the lane on a custom elevation so that it doesn't confuse the many people who park in it. The message the adjacent parking meter sends is also a mixed one.
