Honey, we'd be calling 911 all the time if this was the case. I'm not going to call police every time I see someone suspicious. We want police to take initiative and do HOURLY patrols on foot until the problem is gone.

I've lived in Shurtleff for 10 years now, and it's never been this bad. We've always had drug dealers on our street.. nothing new there.. but last several weeks, these new dealers are very brazen and its VERY F**KING OBVIOUS that this is what is going on. I see them when leave at 6am all congregated together. Always the same 2 guys (some black guy who can't keep his pants up, some well dressed latino guy, and usually some scary looking cracked out white chicks.)

I come home at 5pm, and they are still walking up and down the street. Trying to "fit in" by sitting on steps. Sorry, you're obvious when you go from step to step all day long... you don't live on our street. And hate to say this, they don't look like the residents.. so obvious they do not belong there.

Even lately, after its been more chilly out, its even more obvious now. Same people walking around in the chilly air. Obviously they have no where to go, except peddle their poison.

I want police to do hourly patrols on foot. Sorry its the only way its going to stop or actually catch these guys and arrest them. Some plain clothed cops walking the beat would easily see what is going on to press charges.

Curbing, containing and hopefully eliminating illegal activity especially in a school zone is expected by the community.

I gave up on going to the CPD almost a year ago after I ran over to report a drug deal happening next to a playground 4 blocks away. Officer at the front desk turned me away and told me to report it on app, truly could have cared less and didn't do anything about it. It was the saddest example of community engagement I ever saw out of the Chelsea Police Department (I know there are some engaged ones of course).

Foot patrols most likely won't happen, I asked for them for a year and a half on Hawthorne (third most dangerous street in Chelsea according to City Hall) and sadly none came. I began confronting the drug dealers/gang members myself who would deal on my property/adjacent properties and to be honest is got better. Not recommending this at all and I've had a few encounters where my life was threatened, but it has gotten better since these confrontations and they deal less on my street since they know I am actively watching. I just had to eventually take things into my own hands.

We will notify the Police Dept of this issue, in the future please call 911 immediately or call our non emergency line at 617-466-4662.

Since the illegal activity occurs in this area on a daily basis then constant police presence and surveillance is warranted on a daily basis.
