As annoying as it is, Alameda police haven’t been down that road in a couple years. We need to start a campaign to reduce funding for our police and move it towards the fire department. Police don’t do anything anymore, fire are actually helpful.
Earhart is impacted by the closing of Lum. The city should set up more parking, reduce red zones if possible. And give stressed parents of young children better ways to pick up and drop off children. Prioritizing ticketing is a punitive way to address the problem. Why not put our energy into SOLVING the problem.
Not interested in city plannings issue, there are hundreds of people who are not breaking the law. I’m only the safety of the kids and parents, and obeying laws. Alameda PD is a joke, I just watched them drive by 7 people parked in the red zone. Since Alameda PD is worthless, I will start an anarchy campaign and go lawless. Worthless officers.
I only know one man who was hit by a parked car. Mostly they are safe for kids. (Incidentally, the man was hit by a parked car that was hit by a lawless drunk driver. Police arrested the driver).
For me it’s more about who is obeying the laws. Take out the red zone, fire trucks don’t need a place to park during an emergency anyway. I believe we have laws for a reason, if people don’t obey them, why have them? Take out the red zone and it fixes everything. This same complaint has been posted so many times, it’s time to just give up and recognize that Alameda police don’t care who breaks parking laws. Unless of course you’re talking about street sweeping, they’re on that like a fat kid on a cupcake.
