It's a one way street. The traffic signal is pointing in the direction of no oncoming traffic. For what purpose would the traffic light serve?

Good Morning, to answer Tommy's question regarding the purpose of this traffic signal. In many locations 3-Section Signal Heads on the backside of signals on One-Way streets were used in place of Walk/Don't Walk signals. Several years ago, a project installed the current 2-Way Pedestrian Signals on poles, eliminating the need for the overhead 3-Section Pedestrian Signals. Typically we might remove the entire head but since that head serves a part of the balance for the other heads, removing it would require re-working the entire 4-Way free swinging signal. This is not cost effective with the pending re-construction of that intersection. It is also not a cost effective use of resources to replace the LED signals as they expire. I hope this is helpful.
