Several garbage cans close to the encampmen are full with boxes and trash on the ground.

And remember, “no smoking, no vaping” at that location of the waterfront. What a laugh.
I know there are big plans for waterfront improvements, but since that doesn’t seem to be forthcoming can we just jackhammer that ugly structure and get rid of it. It was one of the worst ideas and ugliest piece of cement in town. Hopefully no one is too offended, since it is considered a memorial.

This location has gotten worse. The COV would pick up all litter on the ground and empty trash bins every Monday. Use to go there about 2 hrs. ago. Switched to the other side of the waterfront. Homelessness will always be about us. They become territorial. What’s sad is when I see children on bikes, skateboarding, wanting to be outside and come across this. Not saying that the homeless are not human beings, but it’s the use of drugs and drink alcohol that turns it into a safety issue.

The contrast (contradiction) for me is not too many feet away in the Ferry Bldg. is a nice coffee and eatery. Behind a brewery. Next door a great restaurant. Another nice restaurant across...that even has tables on the water. I tell ya!

I saw the bulldozer and truck on the land behind Smart and Final several weeks ago. So it appears to me that the squatters there were bulldozed out and now pushed to waterfront

Go, check out between Smart & Final, and Carl's Jr. There's a broken down fence, the derelict cars, campers, and shopping carts are coming and going all day. The White Slough homeless commuter is still there and gaining numbers. Yes, Vallejo's homeless community is mobile, but mobility is mostly inbound.

Why is it a lengthy process? If laws are broken. Sanitation is in hand. Why is there a health department? Just for out of compliant restaurants? If an encampment(s) are not in violation of how their leaving without means of sewage, showers, hygiene products. Try looking at the ordinances, penal codes, laws to the appropriate entities that have the say?
Your response is in default mode, or by the click of a button. Something’s have to change at your level before anything is able to change at the street/community level. Change, alter, add on, revise the process.

It’s a lengthy process because a there are no shelters, so where do you expect them to go? They can’t become invisible. What’s more despicable in my opinion is the lack of compassion and the level of hate/fear of indigent people in the CoV. Congratulations SCF, you have managed to make sport of simply kicking people that are already down.

All that’s being stated is that this is no way for anyone to live. Believe it or not this is hopefully bringing awareness that there’s a progressive homeless population. They needy and poor will always be about us. So let’s hope that someone who has a say and authority here on SCF will make it a priority to emphasis that by only relocating the homeless population isn’t a solution but rather a bandage. I was in Southern California (9-10 years) you should see their “skid row” it’s a community within itself.

It's not the system holding these people on the streets, IMO for the most part, it's their life choices, substance abuses issues and the crimes that goes along with supporting that habit.. As a long time CoV resident and taxpayer, I'm not going to apologize for reporting this incident, with all its garbage & trash left around these encampments. Yesterday, I stepped over a used needle in that same area. The public restrooms there are mostly closed now because of this same problem. The large gray port o pot placed by the Marina since they now have to lock the permanent bathrooms is locked from the inside with someone living inside and is used as a shelter. The handicapped stalls at the Ferry building are also locked from the inside with someone laying inside on the floor. Last week I sat at a computer at the Vallejo library, and in the matter of minutes, I was covered with flees. The Vallejo Waterfront was once a lovely place to walk and enjoy, it's now unsafe, an eyesore and with the needles and human waste it's becoming a bio-hazard. Call the city and find out how many times a week they have to pressure wash around the library and City Hall because of the feces. This is no way to live, I agree, but this also effects my life and my property values, so if to you this is kicking someone when they are down, so be it, but I will continue to photograph and report these type of issues until the situation is resolved for everyone.

What is the contracted security doing at the Ferry Building if people are living in the restroom?
Why even have security if they do nothing. Same goes for the boat launch, security is not doing the job, especially when they don't have the courage to even approach them.

This very same homeless encampment was reported by me, on May 24, 2017, when it first started, here is that case number, Issue ID: 3437634. After 2 years, the situation is larger.

So why you are reporting anonymously?

They are just using "anonymous" as their handle....do you think my name is really Artsem? It pretty much all anonymity here on SCF. Especially when your likely to get berated for "harassing" the homeless folks.

Except when you post as "Artsem" ppl can follow what you post as well as your comments. Whereas posting as "Anonymous" can be numerous ppl

This same location has been reported and announced as resolved, over, and over again, for years. The problem is still there, the solution doesn't work, and all of those numerous Anonymous ppl (ppls?) are right.

I can follow this ONE person that has the Login ID of Anonymous, it says "registered user", whereas the others don't. Vallejocollaborativeneighbor, is another "Anonymous" you get that by using the City website link into SCF, it does not require you to even login or register with SCF.

Very large Illegal fireworks spraying all over the dry trees and rooftops. House at 1021 Highland, is in foreclosure, owners vacated left some sort of squatters in their now. I thought Fireworks were illegal in the city? Called 911, no one showed up.

I believe you can't change what you don't acknowledge, record and measure. These issues are important and therefore need to be documented and made part of the Official Record so something can be done. In order for funding and resources to be made available, the full scope of the problem needs to be documented and the issue needs to be made visible. One of the many ways to document is through this site.

There are people in this encampment using walkers and a wheelchair, recording this detail, gives a deeper understanding of the sad truth in this particular situation. It's a very sad fact.

As the reporter of this issue, I find your focus and attack of me curious. I want this situation resolved for everyone, so I will continue to observe and report because this is the only way it will be recorded and measured. Your name calling, berating and attempts to intimidate me into silence aren't working, I will ignore you going forward, and I suggest that you move on and leave me alone.

Please allow me this brief interruption of the blame game to offer a word of congratulation to our City Manager, Mayor and City Council. Ladies and gentlemen, despite entering office with diverse opinions and attitudes, you have managed to unite in bringing us:

* Well-meaning but frustrated citizens fighting like cats and dogs over intractable issues.

* Hard-working City employees being maligned for their efforts to handle situations they did not cause and cannot fix.

* A police department, out of control, featured nightly on TV news, costing us 7 million in law suits (so far), and yet having the audacity to demand new, deluxe waterfront accommodations, and

* Every parking lot and free space clogged with giant mobile homes, with drivers, supposed homeless and destitute, but who can still afford to fill those guzzlers with $4 gasoline.

Exactly Theo. Almost done with SCF & City Hall. Rather than getting frustrated, I'll just wear blinders and get on with enjoying things. Time to get back to something more productive and satisfying. Get back to volunteering for SPCA or Wildlife Care or maybe Mare Island Preserve and forget about Civics until Vallejo is solvent and functioning again.

I believe our true motivation here is to keep COV at a high standard. Maybe some areas can’t be restored, renovated, as quickly as one would want. But there’s no reason for COV to become filthy, thrashed, destroyed, neglected, a bio-hazard...breaking laws and codes of established departments that expect people of COV to be in compliance with. We can’t change people, but what we can do by way of this application is to address issues. They welcome us.

Dee great question. I personally brought representatives from Caminar, Solano County mental Health and Solano County Social Services to them to provide every possible avenue to get them off the streets all at once. They could have chosen to take any or all of the resources provided but we can not force them into accepting the resources.

The Community Service brings these agencies out to all of the homeless encampments around town every 2 weeks.

Did even one of these folks accept any of the services offered? And in my observations, I would not classify about 75% of this daily group as “homeless”. They sure can afford lots of weed and it’s just a big hoot-nanny party all day.

Dee, by chance have you walked this area of the waterfront and seen the activity? You might have a different opinion after taking a good look. I’ll bet you feel so uncomfortable within just a couple minutes you wouldn’t want to stay.

You'd think that someone already has called VPD, and they ignored the call (after all, that location is on a regular patrol route, and police cars go by several times, every day). Of course, imagine what they would have done if a group of local teenagers were hanging out there, smoking reefer, and playing their music.

Smoking Cannabis isn’t illegal anymore. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Dee J, in this particular location there is a sign posted stating “no smoking or vaping”......how much did it cost to post another sign that is not enforced. What a ridiculous effort to deter this behavior.
