  Send an email to Joe DeVries, jdevries@oaklandca.gov stating above info. Numerous emails have been sent to city/county officials, health department and complaints have been filed with the railroad to no avail. It is necessary for more residents to take action to another level. Our elected officials are neglecting the residents in this community. Would they welcome these encampments and RV's into their community? No! This is Gentrification 101, depress an area enough so current residents will leave. Then developers/investors can buy land cheap to build expensive condo's, apartments, etc. Guess who is left out of the equation?

  I have complaints until I'm blue in the face. I agree they are trying to run us out. I call so much they probably just have to push a button and my info comes up. I even adopted a spot. Libby says she's something and I know the job is daunting but we are tired. It ends up making us less empathetic to the homeless situation.

  When we have people disrespecting our community by leaving buckets of their human waste on the sidewalks, it's time for them to go! On Russet Street they drive cars along the railroad tracks to the encampment and pour liquids (probably urine) down the side of the tunnel on San Leandro Blvd. It's disgusting.

  Really? iam a 62 year old woman who unfortunately came down on hard times and lived a combined 11 months from 98th ave to and lastly 105th ave and Russet i am not a prositute ...nor a drug addict....and as far as i know the saying goes " It takes one to know one" How dare you people stereo type people you dont even know. Sure theres bad everywhere but not just on Russet ave.Iam not ashamed to say that these people are my friends not all but from the first man that landed on 85th ave and San leandro blvd in front of pick ur parts to 105th ave ill lay down on these track that no longer are operable because in hard times they fed me and clotged and protected me . But most of all they made me a humble and thankful person . Now that i dont live there anhmore i apprecuate the little things in life. But i will never forget them they are what to me means friendship .ill be damed if i sit here and let any of you holier then tho talk about the ones that are my fruends. When most likely yiy are much worse a wolf in sheepsclothing per say. Why not nit address the ussye and see what can be done to help people instead of condeming them. Problems dont go away with a bulldozer. They go awsy with unity and compassion and a little knowledge and lits if love. I will forver continue to visit my friends whereever they may be for i knew them when they werebt down and out some if them for clise to 20 years ! I refuse to to act like i dont dont know them now just because there down on their luck. And last but least never say never because one daynyou just might need that woman or man that iffers you a biwl of rice and chicken soup and that moment its the most delicious thing in this world.

  Yes really! I have witnessed prostitution, drug sales and drug use all around the streets of South Stonehurst where there are encampments and RV's. Not to mention some RV's are used as meth labs. Please don't begin to tell me what I have and have not done to help people. As I stated before, it's disgusting and residents should not have to deal with the garbage.

  These people are your friends and no one can take that from you but that has nothing to do with the issues that are going on on Russet. What the commenter said about drugs, prostitution and everything else is true and has been going on for a very, very long time. And quite frankly the community is tired of this. We too want these people to get help with whatever there situation is. But continuing to act blind is just not okay.

  I agree with you 100%. These issues are real and I am sure every neighbor has witness one or more of these issues. And we are sick of it we should not have to deal with it. I will continue to speak on this until something is done.

  The City of Oakland operates off complaints. They seem to take a reactive position than proactive. We must keep complaining and sending emails to Joe DeVries. Residents complaints hopefully gives to City the help they need in court. Most of the people helping people living in the encampments file lawsuits against the City do not live in the affected areas. They live in the Oakland Hills or other cities. They are not forced to live across the street or down the street from an out of control encampment. Their children aren't force to see the illegal activities taking place or live in fear.
