Thank you for your comment. Park St from Otis Drive to Clinton Drive will be re-paved this year. We'll take a look at the Clinton Ave crossing, and consider your suggestions, and see if there are any actions that can be taken in the near term to improve this crossing. Larger cost items, like the flashing beacons, would require a more extensive evaluation and new funding, but can be considered in the future. You will see a second posting about the longer-term review shortly. Thank you!

Hello Michelle Warner and Public Works Alan--I live a block from this intersection. The pedestrian crossing lines on the street are almost worn off, so it is difficult for drivers to see the crossing. If Public Works could repaint those crossing lines it would greatly increase pedestrian safety while more extensive, expensive measures are considered.

Somebody died crossing Clinton Ave in that crosswalk last week. I just witnessed two people in the newly painted Park Street crosswalk crossing from Clinton Ave almost get hit tonight. I wanted to find out if blinking lights are going to be installed or if a bright street light overhang is going to be installed. Thank you.

Public Works, Alameda Police, and the City’s Transportation Planning Unit prioritize improvements based a location’s history of collisions, police citations, its relationship with existing transportation plans and improvements, cost of the improvement given budget constraints, and suggestions from members of the public, such as yours.
