Description

Persistent illegal encampment off of HWY 24 offramp at Claremont. This is becoming dangerous. There are multiple parties with dogs tied up outside all day and all night. They move out the area every other week as Cal Trans does a sweep of the area and move back in. As they move, tons of debris, furniture and bikes are littering the sidewalks and freeway offramp. I have witnessed several cars swerving to avoid hitting these people ON THE OFFRAMP.

After reporting this safety and health issues it CalTrans many times, Cal Trans has declared via email that access to this area is the responsibility of the City of Oakland. Please put up a fence blocking the area off to access. This can only help eliminate folks from being on the roadway. This is an issue that needs to be addressed before a person is hit by a car while moving belongings around in this area.
