Anonymous, this actually is a police matter since the Homeless Laision is actually a division within the Alameda Police Department.
Sadly they just don't do anything. Nobody even knows who these Homeless Laision Officers are. No one has ever seen them. I wonder if they even actually exist or they only exist on paper. Never done anything to clean up these encampments. They remain even after 5 years, 10 years of people complaining. They'll be here forever because our city government is corrupt, worthless and only care about themselves.
Police chief makes 350k a year in salary and benefits paid for with our tax dollars. guy doesnt even live in alameda. none of them care at all about any of this stuff. it doesn't affect them. they get to come to a nice affluent suburb where there is no crime and very strict law enforcement keeping these transients out of their community, while we get to come home to a neglected dump that the chief knowingly and actively permits to remain that way forever.
oh and ps if you want to see one of the latest emails i got frmo the chief where he said he's going to personally pay the fines of the transient his department let trespass and steal from our properties every week for the past year and a half let me know. literally im not even kidding. he said hes going to pay their fines and that he feels bad for them. he thinks its a victimless crime when they go into our yards and dig through our recycle bins, driving up the cost of our garbage collection by depriving ACI of recycling revenue, cutting like 20-30% into our municipal waste disposal budget, tearing open our trash bags leaving a big mess everywhere, stealing CRV bags that we were saving to redeem for cash for ourselves, etc. Its all a big victimless crime to him and he thinks we should feel bad for these transients instead of enforcing the law and kicking them off the island for their constant property crime, d.r.u.g abuse etc.
I reported this week's ago and nothing has been done. People living in the bushes with a makeshift fort and garbage piling up is a concern regarding human waste, environmental issues because the encampment is in a ditch - water table is being ruined by toxic material, fire hazard and why is the City/APD/Human Resources Officer allowing this? Dangerous strip of roadway on Doolittle - creating a distraction for drivers.
C.C. it's because they have absolutely no incentive to do their jobs. They don't care about Alameda. Why should they? Because it's the right thing to do? The people who work in our government don't have a functioning moral compass. They only care about themselves. Alameda Police Chief Paul Rolleri doesn't even live in Alameda. Do these homeless encampments affect his luxurious 4-bedroom estate in Danville? No. Do these homeless encampments negatively impact his income? No he still makes $350,000 a year in salary and benefits paid for with your tax dollars.
So what reason does he have to enforce the law? What incentive is there for him? He doesn't care. He doesn't have to deal with it because he lives in a safe and affluent town in a different part of the east bay. He looks down on people like you and me that are members of the working class and cant afford a luxurious 4 bedroom home in Danville paid for by the taxpayers. He thinks we're trash and we deserve to be victimized by criminals and transients. That's just the reality folks.
let that sink in. this is your tax dollars at work. they're going straight into paul rolleri's and trish spencer's bank accounts. they're not going into law enforcement, education, infrastructure. just making a bunch of crooks rich. thats all.
C.C. remember paul rolleri actually goes out of his way to even pay their fines. he is not here to serve us. he's here to help transients and criminals ruin our community. it doesnt affect him because he doesnt live in alameda and hes filthy rich
Well it's unacceptable to us taxpayers. I've worked hard, paid my taxes and don't want to see our City wind up like the cesspool nextdoor to us - East Bay's armpit - Oakland.
This person living in squalor along Doolittle Dr. needs to access resources available to him. No excuse not to have a job and move into subsidized housing. It's a lifestyle choice in my opinion - anarchy at best.

Sadly, our elected city officials, city government and alameda police department simply couldn't care less and there just simply isn't enough angry taxpayers like you and me in Alameda protesting the lack of law enforcement, misuse of public funds to buy fancy 4 bedroom homes in danville for the police chief and paying off the fines of transients who steal from our properties, and general "taxation without representation" issue we've had in this city to change anything.

looks like the word I used that set off the auto filter was "imm.i.g.r.an.t" without periods. Be careful folks, according to the seeclickfix administrators that harmless word "immi.g.r.an.t" is actually a curse word that will get your entire post blocked! no site has a dumber team of admins than this one.
We have too many bleeding hearts in this town who will stand up for crooks, they'll defend these d.r.u.g. addict transients who trash our city and steal from our properties. We are a sanctuary city that welcomes i.l.l.e.g.a.l im.mi.grants with open arms in open violation of federal law. it is obvious we have a very serious problem with our dangerously "progressive" city government putting their flawed political ideals above the welfare of our city's taxpaying residents.
Unless we all rise up and start holding the fire to their butts they're just going to keep abusing their power and driving Alameda further and further into ruin until it eventually turns into Oakland #2.
We need to organize the whole city and get everyone to rise up against this city government, rise up against the city council, rise up against the alameda police department and remind them that they are our servants and are there to execute the will of the people instead of only seeking personal gain at our expense. They need to learn that there are consequences for corruption.
Look up the Battle of Athens. In 1946 Athens, TN had a serious problem with a corrupt police force terrorizing and extorting the citizenry while the GI's were overseas fighting in the war. When the GIs came back and discovered what the crooked cops were doing to their city, they lead an armed rebellion against them and ultimately won. It's incredibly tragic to think that people like the brave men and women of Athens, TN who stood up to their corrupt city government are becoming an endangered species in 2019. We have almost no people like this in Alameda now. We need more people like the righteous American citizens who rebelled against their corrupt police force in Athens, TN in 1946. We're going to need those kidn of people in our town if we ever want to save this place.
Otherwise you can give up any hope of Alameda not turning into a second Oakland. At this point unless we revolt it's inevitable. Only a revolt will stop it now.

sorry my post got censored because I typed the abbreviated form of "he will" (he [apostrophe] ll), that gets your post blocked on this site. so does posting a comment that contains the word "imm.i.g.r.a.n.t" (without periods). the more you know!
Anyway.
and c.c. remember these transients actually can count on paul rolleri, our very own police chief, to personally pay their fines when they get cited. he will pay their fines out of his own pockets (Technically your pockets since your tax dollars subsidize his salary). thats why they choose that life style. think about it. if you knew that the police chief himself was going to pay your fines for you every time you get cited for breaking the law out here, and that he is even going out of his way to stop his own officers from even citing you to begin with, wouldn't you feel so much more comfortable breaking the law? paul rolleri makes them comfortable, he assures them that he will pay their fines and keep his officers off their backs so they can do whatever they want. its only natural that they keep doing it. what else would happen?
What is the status of this? I drive by everyday and there is more & more garbage piling up. Unsanitary, person has tapped into the City's water supply? Sorry but no excuse for living in a ditch - this person has resources available to them.
Thank you for your notification.
The Alameda Police Department strives to provide quality service to all community members with respect, concern, care, dignity, and equal treatment. We are aware of the on-going complaints regarding homeless encampments and the Alameda Police Department is working closely with the City’s Community Development Department to address, understand, and act on issues involving homelessness in Alameda. Homeless, in itself, is not a crime, although we are aware of the community impacts a homeless encampment creates. The Alameda Police Department strictly adheres to legal requirements before displacing a homeless encampment and simultaneously provides community and County resources in an effort to achieve a functioning zero homeless population for Alameda. The City of Alameda’s Coalition Advancing Resources, Efforts, and Support (CARES) for Alameda’s homeless was initiated in early 2018 (formerly the Homeless Outreach Team) with the purpose of bringing together Alameda organizations with the combined goal of addressing homelessness. These groups include the Community Paramedics Program, Homeless Liaison Officer program, Community Development Department, community-based social service providers, faith-based coalitions, and the Alameda Housing Authority. In an effort to keep the Alameda community informed of the City’s efforts to address our homeless challenges, please reference the below link. If you are reporting an emergency, or potential hazard to the community, contact our non-emergency line at 510-337-8340 or dial 911.
Why is this closed? Don't appreciate a "canned" cut and paste response. I drive by this 4x a day. Guy is still there - trash, human waste, toxic materials in a drainage ditch leeching into the ground water. At least clean it out. Why can the Community liasions assist one individual in transitioning to a subsidized apartment? Is it the person's resistance to conform to a more acceptable lifestyle versus living in a ditch and tapping into the City's sprinkler system for water?
Like I mentioned before - Receiving a "canned" response to concerned citizens who reported the situation - is a disservice to the tax payers of this City. So does this mean - nothing was done besides passing it on to the Community liasions? Just like the encampment down at Marina Village and under the Bay Farm Island bridge where vagrancy and theft run rampant.
