Mcwilliams Pl & Pavonia Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - DowntownCurb extensions to preserve pedestrian right of way and protect the kids heading to the park.

St Pauls Ave Jersey City NJ 07306, United States - Journal SquareBtwn Bevan and 139 on Saint Paul's it is a 2 way road. The only reason it's two ways if for the awful parking lot that serves zero purpose for the community considering all of the buildings in this block, have gated parking with hundreds of spots available to them. This area is incredibly dangerous for pedestrians AND drivers because people are driving into oncoming traffic to go around everyone waiting at the stop sign to turn right onto 139. There should be a bump out here after the lot entrance or some other way to prevent people from driving into oncoming traffic. It happens every morning all morning and it is very dangerous. My real opinion is that this entire stretch of road should be a dead end so this street ceases to be used for cut through traffic.

6th St & Marin Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - DowntownLeft Turn signals at 6th and Marin are needed. A busy intersection, coupled with multiple lanes turning, a little league field with pedestrians always crossing, and an impossible turn. This is needed and a no brainer.
-
32 Claremont Ave Jersey City 07305, United States - Bergen-LafayetteClaremont is a two way street which allows parking on both sides of the street. If two cars are coming in opposite directions there is no room to pass. This street should be a one way street or have parking on only one side
-
Pavonia Ave & Summit Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - Journal Squareintersection of pavonia and summit needs either a light for each direction of pavonia or a turn lane/turn signal
-
Sip Ave & Summit Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - Journal Square
The pedestrian buttons at all crosswalks at the Sip Ave and Summit Ave intersection stopped working at least a few weeks back. This really should be fixed at some point, that intersection and the whole area gets quite congested with traffic, construction vehicles, and NJ transit buses making it a bit hazardous for the pedestrians needing to cross through there.
There should also be better timing of the lights, or a delay on the turn signals, so that pedestrians can cross Summit or Sip without needing race the cars and trucks that try to turn quickly as soon as they get a green light at Summit or Sip.

Bay St & Greene St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - The Waterfront
The pedestrian crossing at Bay St/Greene St is already incredibly dangerous, drivers fly down Greene St with no respect for pedestrians.
Recently a warning sign for drivers to slow down was placed in the crossing. Is it possible for this to be fixed to the road surface? When it is in the middle of the road, it does have some impact in forcing drivers to slow down but it is frequently knocked and moved around on the road.
I see near-misses between cars and pedestrians on this crossing nearly every day. Can something permanent be installed at the crossing to slow down the traffic - lane narrowing, etc.?

1st St & Jersey Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - DowntownThis intersection is extremely dangerous, with very few cars stopping for the stop signs There are many pedestrians in the area, and children's nurseries on two corners Please either start enforcing these stops signs or find ways to make the intersection safer

Jersey Ave & Newark Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - DowntownLack of monitoring and cars not stopping at the stop sign. Please add speed bumps or a raised pedestrian walk or lights so cars can be more aware of pedestrians crossing

686 Bergen Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - McGinley Square
Today I saw for the millionth time a pedestrian who waited until a break in cars, crossed into the marked crosswalk, but had fast-moving cars speed up dangerously and attempt to mow the walker down! This has also happened to me personally. This crosswalk has signs but no lights. It is not adequate for safety. Drivers do not stop! Drivers do not seem to understand how crosswalks work.
Here's information about a study that shows cars need to be moving slower than 20mph to reliably stop for a pedestrian as required in a crosswalk, regardless of signage or laws: https://usa.streetsblog.org/2023/01/11/want-drivers-to-stop-at-crosswalks-slow-them-down-first/
Please consider:
-lowering speed limit for stretch of Bergen between Communipaw and Montgomery
-marking crosswalks in this section with lights (currently only the ones in front of the school a few blocks down have flashing lights)
-ticketing more for crosswalk or speeding violations in this area
Thank you very much

194 Wayne St Jersey City NJ 07302, United States - DowntownWayne Street between Monmouth Street and Brunswick Street is considered an Access Easement, but drivers frequently use it as a shortcut to skip the traffic light at Monmouth and Columbus Drive or a shortcut from Brunswick to Monmouth to avoid the traffic light at Montgomery Street. Drivers frequently race down this narrow access easement at high speeds. Previous signage indicating the status of Wayne Street is old and illegible at this point. Please consider posting new signage of the status of Wayne St., multiple speed bumps / humps, a reduced speed limit of 10 or 15mph, and additional enforcement.

768-782 Grand St Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - Bergen-LafayetteWe’re urgently requesting a speed hump or other traffic calming measures (e.g., stop sign, traffic light) on grand street between Clinton and Arlington Ave directly across from Arlington Park. Despite having submitted a prior formal request, cars continue to speed dangerously on this stretch, and there have been multiple crashes in recent months. It’s a high-foot-traffic area, and young children are often crossing to access the park. Pedestrian walkways are often ignored by speeding cars.
